Plendil is one of the many drugs used to lower blood pressure, or reduce hypertension. Actually you may not be aware that the generic name of this drug is Felodipine; Plendil is just the more commonly used brand name. Plendil is a drug prescribed for chest pains, in particular angina and hypertension. It is part of the group of medications known as calcium channel blockers. These arteries are then widened which has the outcome of reducing blood pressure.

There are certain people who should not take this medication. These include pregnant women, those with allergies to calcium channel blockers and anyone who has suffered a heart attack in the last 30 days. Elderly people, those suffering from low blood pressure problems, those afflicted with left ventricular dysfunction and anyone whose liver has a severely decreased functionality should only take Plendil with prior consultation with their doctor.
